Long Exposures at Spelga Dam

Below are a couple of photos I took of Spelga Dam, a picturesque location nestled in the heart of the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland. The serene beauty of this area is truly breathtaking, and I aimed to capture its essence through my lens. To enhance the quality of my images, I utilized a big stopper filter, which is a type of neutral density filter that significantly reduces the amount of light entering the camera. This allowed me to extend my exposure time, creating a dreamy, ethereal effect in the water and clouds.

With the long exposure technique, the flowing water of the dam appears silky smooth, contrasting beautifully against the rugged textures of the surrounding landscape. The gentle movement of the clouds is also captured in a way that adds a sense of dynamism to the stillness of the water, creating a harmonious balance between motion and tranquility.
